Web Design FAQs
From website care plans to social media management and SEO strategies, we’re here to guide you, one step at a time. Dive in below to find the answers you’re looking for!
What services do you offer at Luminite?
We cover the whole spectrum of digital services, including website design and development, graphic design, SEO, digital marketing, social media management, and web hosting. Each service is tailored to fit your brand’s needs and help you grow online with confidence.
Do you create custom websites?
Absolutely! Every website we build is custom-made to reflect each client’s unique brand, audience, and goals. We steer clear of one-size-fits-all templates and collaborate closely with you to create a site that stands out.
What’s included in your care plans?
Our website care plans include regular updates, security monitoring, daily backups, and ongoing support. It’s all about keeping your website safe, up-to-date, and working perfectly—plus, there are different options to suit your needs.
Why do Plugins & Software Cost Extra?
To give you the best possible website experience, I sometimes use premium plugins and software that add extra functionality – like speed optimisation tools, security features, booking systems, forms or SEO support. These are often third-party tools with annual or monthly licence fees. I’ll always be upfront about any additional costs, and I only ever recommend tools that genuinely benefit your website. Think of them like apps for your phone – some are free, but the really powerful ones need a small subscription to keep things running smoothly.
Domain Name Registration
Your domain name is your website’s unique address – like www.yourbusiness.co.uk – and every site needs one. I handle domain registration and renewals for you, with prices starting from £2/month for .co.uk, £3/month for .com, and £6/month for other extensions.
Domains are billed monthly in advance on a pro rata basis, as they’re registered and renewed annually. You’ll always retain full ownership of your domain, and I make sure it’s managed securely and renewed on time – so you don’t have to worry.
How Renewal Works
To keep your website live, secure, and performing at its best, there are a few essential running costs. These are now clearly itemised on your monthly invoice, so you’ll always know exactly what you’re paying for – no hidden extras.
What’s Included in Your Monthly Invoice
Depending on your setup, your invoice may include:
Domain Registration – Your website’s unique address (e.g. yourdomain.co.uk). Domains are registered annually but billed monthly in advance (pro rata).
Website Hosting – UK-based cloud hosting that ensures your website is fast, secure, and always online.
Email Server Space – If you use domain-based email (e.g. [email protected]), this is included in your hosting allocation.
Security & Monitoring – Protection from malware, hacks, and downtime with built-in monitoring and firewall protection.
Storage & Server Space – As your site grows (images, content, emails), more space may be required. Extra server space can be added from £5/month.
Plugins & Themes – Premium tools and software that add features to your site (e.g. SEO, speed, galleries). These have annual licence costs, but I spread the cost for you monthly.
Website Care Plan – Your support package covering updates, monitoring, security patches, technical fixes and small content changes.
These are essential third-party or service-based costs, spread monthly to help you manage your budget with no large renewal bills.
Email Storage & Server Space
If you use domain-based email, your mailbox shares space with your website hosting.
Storing too many emails or large attachments can slow down performance.
You can either clear old emails or upgrade your storage for a small monthly fee.
If you use Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, your email is stored separately and does not affect your website space.
Monthly Renewal Policy
All services are now billed monthly only.
There is no longer an annual renewal option.
Monthly billing keeps things simple and spread out – no big yearly costs.
Your services must be kept up to date to avoid downtime, email loss or plugin expiry.
You’ll receive regular invoices with a full breakdown of all services.
If anything changes in your plan or costs, I’ll always contact you personally and give you plenty of notice. My goal is simple: to keep your site running brilliantly while giving you flexibility and transparency.
How does Luminite approach SEO for websites?
We focus on making sure your website ranks well with search engines. This includes technical SEO, quality content, and tracking tools like GA4, Tag Manager, and Search Console. From keyword research to backlink strategies, we ensure your site is optimised to reach the right audience.
Can you manage my social media too?
Definitely! Our digital marketing packages include social media management, where we create engaging posts, design eye-catching graphics, and run targeted ad campaigns to help you connect with your audience.
Will I lose all my Google reviews?
No, transferring your website to Luminite won’t affect your Google reviews. Your Google Business Profile, which holds all your reviews, is completely independent of your website. This means your reviews, business information, and profile data stay safe on Google’s platform, even if you change website provider or host. We’ll help ensure everything runs smoothly with your new site, while your Google Business Profile - including all your valuable reviews - remains intact and visible to your customers.
